Not gonna lie, I didn’t get the movie at first, but this really sums it up quite well and is spot on.

He got the idea from many things like jelly fish cuttlefish and the flying polyp from HP lovecraft's stories. I wouldn't be surprised if adventure did the same with some of their characters. But it's cool how he made this movie seem like it was about aliens but in reality it was a creature feature.
