Shop Everything To Test Your Electrical Components!

Regulators / Rectifiers play a crucial part in providing DC current to your machine, but when do you know if your rectifier is bad or not? In this video we demonstrate how to test to see if your OEM rectifier/regulator needs replaced. The rectifier part inside the regulator-rectifier takes care of converting the AC-current to the DC-current the battery needs. When looking for new electrical components Rocky Mountain ATV/MC has got you covered.

Saved many customers money by replacing a faulty rectifier vs replacement of "thought bad" stator. Great video

If everyone took a drink everytime he says "regulator rectifier" we would be hammered by the end lol

This is very good info. Found out my voltage regulator was shorted to ground on 2 of 3 leads

Had lack of a harness and this will help get things plugged in

Excellent video, and very helpful schematic animations. Easy to understand what the test is doing and now I know the problem isn’t my rectifier.

Thank you for this video!! Misdiagnosed my stator as being bad before moving on to testing the regulator/rectifier on my 2016 KTM 500 EXC. Hadn't opened the case up yet and this set of tests confirmed my rectifier/regulator was still good even though I had a bad pin in the plug.

Thanks, thanks a lot.. this much easier explanation.
I have no words to say.

Nice work folks. While going through your steps to do a dynamic stator test my stator performed just as you explained for a three phase stator. AC voltages at example RPM's. The thing that left me stumped was my Shop Manual states that an AC voltage reading should be between 10 and 12 VAC. Not giving any engine speed. At idle it is producing 17 VAC. Increased engine speeds also increased VAC. Should I assume this as a typo and direct my attention towards the rectifier? This is on a 2005 Bombardier Outlander 330 HO 4x4.

Great simple explanation of how a rectifier works, i'm working on a honda pioneer 700 utv that is only charging 12.3 at idle and 13.3 at 5000 rpm. after watching this video and the one on stator i believe i have a bad rectifier but i'll know more after i perform these test. thank you Rocky Mountain atv.

I want to know if the forward readings should be a similar value on both the positive & negative terminals as mine are double the value on the negative side ?

Thanks for your help, I’ve just correctly diagnosed a faulty regulator rectifier on my Polaris ranger 570.
