And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.5:32

Forgiveness is the key. The prophet muhammad (peace be upon him) was carrying huge burdens for TWENTY THREE YEARS. And he forgave the people that harmed him for so long (the quraysh), just like that. If you want to really progress yourself as a muslim, you need to always forgive people no matter what and ask people to forgive you for harming them in any way. And if the person chooses not to forgive you, then that person is sinful you are free of that sin.
