May begs EU for Brexit extension

She only wants a short Brexit delay and regrets that the UK has not already left the EU. But the EU leaders at this emergency summit are far from clear that she can get a deal through parliament by her preferred date, June 30th. Right now, as they tuck into their dinner to chew over the UK's options with Mrs May excluded, the likelihood is that they will demand a much longer extension - something many of her own MPs will find unpalatable.
