Paris Olympics 2024: Second Olympic Gender Row Boxer Lin Into Final As Opponent Does 'XX' Gesture

Taiwanese Boxer Lin Yu-ting advances to finals amid row over her gender. Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting beat Turkey's Esra Yildiz via unanimous decision in the women's 57 kg category. Lin will meet Julia Atena Szeremeta from Poland in her gold medal bout. Lin and Algerian boxer Imane Khelif have been the target of a gender row as both are competing in Paris despite being disqualified from last year's World Championship after failing gender eligibility tests. Imane Khelif has already secured her place in the welterweight finals and would be fighting for gold. Yildiz, Lin's opponent made an 'X' sign with her fingers at the end of the bout to register her protest. The 'X' was reportedly said to have symbolised female XX chromosomes.
