Yup! Worked for my 05 Avalanch. While I was at it I cleaned up the ground from firewall to engine block. That did the trick. No more flikering! Thanks.

This could also be caused by a rusted ground wire to frame. It connects under the drivers side of frame. Behind front wheel.

I got a 98 GMC Sonoma LS (V6) with head/dashlamp pulsing. I'll try the ground method cause it's a good idea anyway. But saw a pin install video, in the alt. harness plug. Wired to pos. on the rear case. Which seems to work to.

You say "The problem seems to be a grounded case on the alternator" That is NOT the problem.
All Electrical parts on the vehicle, including the Alternator needs to be grounded. That is why it says GND on the casing. Your Alt didn't have a GOOD ground probably due to corrosion. You Cleaned and deoxidized the alt and bracket, making the ground connection GOOD. I generally recommend putting some dielectric grease on all contact points and problem solved. The Grease will prevent the corrosion from coming back

I just ordered a new alternator but I’m hoping this works or other grounds to blame. Hopefully it is and I’ll just have a good used alternator to have as backup.

I'm just gonna replace the whole cluster plain and simple

Wonder if this is a internal regulator or exciter circuit issue?
My sonoma's been doing it a while now & seems worse during warm ups

I had the same issues the last 3 months, I removed the alternator to review the carbon contactor and everything were ok. I reinstall the alternator and work ok. (I dont know if the problem was to clean the screw bolts contact...

I have the same issue on my 2006. Is the problem that the alternator is grounding, or not grounding to the mounts?
