Is it so difficult to renounce on Ukraine as a NATO partner? The NATO -treaty requires that
a new member enhances the security of the existing members. With Ukraine and its military
conflicts in Donbas and Crimea the opposite is the case.

So Ukraine cannot become NATO member anyhow, said also the retired general
Harald Kujat, former commander in chief of the German armed forces 2000-2002.
Retired General Kujat calla the present debate about Ukrainian NATO-membership "absurd".

So why not give this Putin in written? This would be so easy, and the matter would be settled.
Putin knows that he has no chance to get everything he pokers for. But if the West remains stubborn,

Putin will take Ukraine. Putin knows that he has the means, and in my eyes he will do it, maybe after a
longer phase of fruitless negotiations in summer, when the snow-melt and muddy ground in Ukraine
will be over Putinwill do it if he does not get an assurance that Ukraine will not join NATO.


My guess is, that next summer Ukraine will be part of Russia. The west did not want it differently.
What is the problem to give Putin in written, what NATO-members do not want anyhow?
