The moment that stands out to me, that shows this is a group of friends playing together is Tango being hunted by almost everyone and still answering "Polo" to Grians's "Marco".

I genuinely loved Double Life, the whole dynamic between Pearl Scott, Cleo and Martyn was gold . Also Team Ranchers, Jimmy and Tango, no one expected them to work but they had the best chemistry out of all of them . Sad it was such a short season though

I want to bring some redemption to Double Life, since it's actually my favourite season.
As you have pointed out many times before, the people in the Life series tend to gravitate to those they already know and are comfortable working with. This is a very understandable and human thing to do, but it also tend to create very predictable content.

There is a reason why the Ren-Martyn storyline was so successful in 3rd Life. They took a chance and hung out with a stranger that first episode and it was so exciting for both of their audiences. No one knew what was going to come next, and it all ended up in a beautiful friendship.

You said it yourself, Impulse, that the thing you remember most about Last Life was hanging out with the Brits, and I'm pretty sure that your audience agrees with you. Even if you felt awkward and out of place at first it was still the most interesting group to follow that season. Team BEST was really good too, but with much more predictable interactions, since everyone who were addicted to the Among Us Fridays knows that Skizz, Tango, Bdubs and Etho work well together.

So, in Double Life you had no choice. It was decided for you who you were going to team up with, and I LOVED it.
Between the seasons, when I get a craving for the Life series, I go back and re-watch the old seasons and I tend to gravitate towards specific POVs. The ones I have watched the most is the Etho-Joel and the Tango-Jimmy series of Double Life.
They both start very awkward when they get paired, but then Etho and Joel start bonding over their love for mischief, and Tango and Jimmy developed this cool and derpy big brother-little brother relationship that just makes you smile. (Skizz, if you ever decide to watch any Double Life content, those are the ones I would pick)
If you ever tune in to Jimmy's streams, anytime he reacts to Double Life fan content he still blurts out a "I miss Tango".

Now in Limited Life everyone floated back to their comfort zones again, which was a little bit disappointing, but still expected. However, the vibes in the entire group was so much more relaxed. People from the different cliques could hang out and chat without the conversations feeling stilted or awkward. A lot of this is of course because you all have played together for four seasons, but I still feel that Double Life was the big ice breaker between the groups.

TL:DR: Double Life blurred the lines between the cliques and that's why I think it's the best season.

this is so weird to hear that Double Life is considered the worst life series because people on reddit rate it so low, when on tumblr people went crazybonkers over it and i still see so much love and fan art coming from this love. people love the ranchers, there's not a day when i don't see someone talk about the ranchers!! Double Life gave us so many cool and unexpected teams, the fanfiction-y soulmates au in canon, and paired with the visuals of the red string of fate, it keeps producing very recognizable and cool fanart that probably only Scott, Martyn and Pearl see, because they're on tumblr with this more private and secluded part of the fandom.

24:30 I have been amazed at how Scar uses his avatar for theatrical effect for years now, but the moment that still haunts my dreams is from season 6 in the new village at the end of the Build Off. In Grian's POV Grian looks up at Scar standing at world height and it's just pure smug evil - shivers! It was so good!

The Clock Betrayal Incident lives on in infamy in our house. We watched bubbles first, and were “horrified”. Then watching Impulse, “I’m coming to save you” just made it a hundred times worse. And now to learn it was your clock to begin with!
It took a day or so for me to get over what Bubbles did. And I guess it’s a most memorable Minecraft content moment, so good job on it.

It's so funny that there's this perception of Double Life being the lowest ranked. I guess it depends on the part of the fandom you hang out in, but Double Life's drama level was just so intense, it's my favorite. There are still people making amazing fanart and animatics and writing fanfic of it. Limited Life definitely had broader appeal, though. I actually got my non-Minecrafty spouse to watch, and he really enjoyed it. I really hope there is another season, because this series is just soooo much fun! And hearing you talk about your experiences across the series has me wanting to go back and do a rewatch (with all my nonexistent free time).

I disagree with the view that most people would rank double life the lowest. If the fan art is any type of measurement it was in the top 2. Double Life has some of the most heartfelt and poetic fanart ever. The linked hearts with the strings and everything.

I was always under the impression double life was people's favorite because of just how much interaction time everyone had and the fun dynamics that came out of various pairs. And also how much lore people created around how the soulmate pairs actually worked and all that too
