When Will The Matrix 4 Be Released?

Starting with the most important question, when is the movie actually releasing? There have been a lot of changes to the release date. Originally, The Matrix 4 was set to release on April 22nd, 2021, but it got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The film was postponed to May 21st; however, Warner Brothers changed their minds again and a new release has been introduced. The Matrix 4 is now due for release on December 22, 2021. It will also be available on HBO Max on the same day and will stay there for one month.

The Name Of The Movie

As of now, the fourth film is being called The Matrix 4. There isn't a proper name released as of yet; however, soon it will be released. For now, let's just call it The Matrix 4.

The Cast

The Matrix 4 features the most talented cast of all time. The Matrix lead stars Carrie Anne Moss and Keanu Reeves are returning as Trinity and Neo. Ok, but aren't you amazed these two are returning? Didn't they die in the previous film? Well, we have an explanation for Keanu Reeves aka Neo's return. Neo is the result of a statistical irregularity that recurrently occurs in the Matrix. Even though Neo had reset the Matrix but an anomaly still exists and this means that he can return. As for Trinity, you're free to share your guesses in the comment section below.

Other characters returning are Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe and Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian. Apart from the old cast, new cast members were also announced. Neil Patrick Harris from ‘How I met Your Mother’ and Jonathan Groff, the Frozen Voice actor, are also joining. Two Sense 8 stars, Toby Onwumere and Erendira Ibarra, will also join The Matrix 4 cast. It is going to be a diverse cast as Indian actress Priyanka Chopra-Jonas will also have a part in the movie as well.

Laurence Fishburne who played Morpheus is not returning for the role as the actor shared with New York Magazine, "I have not been invited. Maybe that will make me write another play. I'm looking for the blessing in that. I wish them well. I hope it's great."

The Plot of The Matrix 4

As of now, no plot details are revealed but we know for sure that the movie is going to be exceptional with a strong plot. The Matrix 4 will be a sequel to the previous movies and it may continue the story where it had left before. The Matrix trilogy ended with peace between humans and machines, giving humans the option to leave the Matrix. However, Neo dies destroying Agent Smith and Trinity dies in a hovercraft crash. As discussed before, there is also speculation that Neo and Trinity will return from the dead.

The previous themes might be discussed again as Lana Wachowski shared, "Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I'm very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."

The Brains Behind the Scenes

The Matrix series is not possible to make without extraordinary minds working on it. Lana Wachowski, who had directed the first three movies, is returning to direct and write The Matrix 4 along with her sibling Lilly. Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell were also the writers of the script.
Toby Emmerich, the Warner Brothers Picture Group chairman said, "We could not be more excited to be re-entering 'The Matrix' with Lana. Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing, and producing this new chapter in 'The Matrix' universe."

Production of The Matrix 4

The production for The Matrix 4 had begun in February of 2020. Some photos of Keanu Reeves were released from the set, which gave us a bit of an idea about what his character might be up to. In the photos, he doesn't appear like slick Neo as in the previous movies.

No one can be told what the plot of the Matrix 4 is. You have to wait to see it for yourself.

FYI some crew member leaked a parting gift that said the title was Matrix Resurrections. It was quickly deleted but still can be found.

Trinity didn’t die as we know it. My best guess is that since her and neo were at the main frame that they jacked her in and took her mind, therefore she continues. Neo never passed as there is 0 evidence that he died. His body was glowing. Aka life in the matrix form. Other than that I believe Neil Patrick Harris will be the Merovingian in younger form as well as yahya Abdul will be a younger Morpheus. This is all just speculation on my part but I have studied the movie and anomalies very closely since the first movie. Also we know that it will be based on memory and time lines.
