If it's only about note taking, then there is no competition, nothing can beat Samsung tablets, whether it's S9, or even older S6 Lite. The soft feeling of the pen, the flawless writing experience, the no needing of charging the pencil for writing, the excellent Samsung notes, the extra features like translating any text (including images) by hovering the pencil on the text, included pen in box, ... and the list can go on.
And I am saying it after using iPad Pro, Galaxy tab and Surface devices. There is absolutely no competition.

I will share my experience with OP pad, hope it might help someone. I was looking for a tablet primarily for note taking, so handwriting experience was quite important for me. Long story short, I have sent mine back for a refund. Writing was absolutely impossible, I could literally see 3-4cm gap between the pen tip and line on the screen. Goodnotes was pretty much unusable on it, it would crash every time I tried to write and later it didn't even recognize the pen when it was connected. I would say that the OP pad is good for anything else than notetaking or painting. (For anyone interested, i have latency demonstration on my channel)

12:15 The Xiaomi smart pen 1st generation is incompatible with the Pad 6. The Second generation is compatible with Xiaomi Pad 5 series or later. One other thing worth noting is that the Xiaomi Smart Pen buttons can actually be used in third party apps. They are mapped to page up and down and they have functions in some notetaking apps like notewise for example.

Awesome comparison. But its a shame that you compared S9 and not S9 FE since budget wise it is closer to the rest of competitors. But since ive seen that you do have experience with S9 FE would you still recommend Mi pad 6 as a budget option or would it be s9 FE? I especially ask about notetaking experience since some user report that S pen in S9 FE is only lag free in samsung notes app and is not as good in other apps as mi 6 pen is
