How is analytics different from data journalism?

Analytics is not storytelling / marketing / journalism. The difference is that analytics is about expanding the decision-maker’s perspective while marketing is about narrowing it. Similarly, data journalism is about capturing the interest of many people in a small way, while analytics is about serving the needs of a few people in a big way. The analyst serves their decision-maker(s) first and foremost.

Influence marketing as contrasted to influencer marketing uses diffused, trusted nodes closer to customer decision points than big hubs.
You can just treat networks like fluent organisations / stakeholders. In order to scale schmooze optimisation a bit, you need to serve the needs of a few more people a bit less shallow than in influencer marketing. Less views, more bang.

That is why data analytics should (have to) get immerse in the business to discern what is important to the decision-maker. Keep in mind that at the end of the day, this analytics should be converted into a compelling story.
