Paint Correction Black Lincoln to Mirror Shine (PART 1) Wet Sanding
Показать описание
In this Playlist we're tackling the challenge of restoring the finish of a 2016 Lincoln MKZ that has some deep scratches and other flaws in the paint. Our goal is to get the finish looking as close to a mirror as possible. However, there is one issue that we won't be able to fix, which is commonly known as "crows feet" - clear coat failure that looks like little cracks made by a crow's feet.
Part 1 of the video, we'll be using 1500 - 3000 grit sandpaper to remove deeper scratches. This process can be quite scary-looking and should only be used with proper measurement of the paint depth and professional training. Any mistakes made here can cause permanent damage, which can only be fixed by repainting the vehicle.
PART 2
We'll then polish out the sanding scratches in stages, starting with a heavy compound and a microfiber pad and working our way to a finer grade until we achieve the desired shine. Join us for an exciting and informative journey of car restoration!
Achieving a mirror finish on a car's paintwork is a challenging task that requires time, patience, and expertise. However, the results are well worth the effort, as a mirror finish can transform the appearance of a car and give it a high-end look. To bring paint to a mirror finish first we clean the car's paintwork thoroughly. The paint is inspected to see how aggressive we need to go to achieve the desired results.
Second, correct the paintwork using a high-quality heavy cutting compound in combination with a microfiber or wool pad with a dual-action polisher. Sometimes it is necessary to use a wet sanding technique to get deep scratches out before using a . This technique is used sparingly and should not be done without professional training/advice.
Third is an intermediate step to refine the earlier steps. In some cases you can skip the second step and go straight to this stage. Deep scratches have already been removed and a foam pad with a less aggressive compound is used.
Next, apply a finishing polish to further enhance the shine and smoothness of the paintwork. This step is actually refining the marring (very light scratches) created by the previous steps.
Finally, apply a coat of wax or sealant or Ceramic Coating to protect the paint and maintain its mirror finish.
