If your text box doesn’t have the rotate handle, you’re probably in “Compatibility Mode" which prevents rotation of text boxes in older Word formats (.doc files); to fix this, you need to convert your document to a newer format (.docx) by going to "File > Info > Convert" to enable the rotation feature.

No rotation handle shows up in any of the text boxes or the shapes, as soon as text is entered, and the rotation function is grayed out and cannot ne used. There is a bug in Microsoft word!
