The sliding door seems lighter and easier to operate than the flip door and takes less room from the outside. Safety-wise, both should be the same. Just don't understand why there isn't an easier way to operate it, like, a one-button auto open/close. If there is a safety concern, you can always trust a PIN input device.

Designers, engineers! Why isn't there a hydraulic system??? It could work with it, and in a case of emergency the door would be openable by hand. Hmm?

It just feels like the design is rather poor and the simple additon of a lever, attached to the hinge would make it much easier to pull it in..
Could easily be designed to be collapsable and as such not get in the way during entry or when the door is closed.

Seriously, that is easy to engineer and the cost to the door would be minimal.
