Why would you entertain an offer for $1, 100.00 off when you have an offer for $1, 500.00 off. By accepting their offer sent to you just told them that you were full of it. No one would entertain a lower offer in writing if they already have a higher offer. You lost all credibility with that dealership. You know they're all laughing at you right now. A better tactic is say no thanks for your offer I already have $1, 500.00 off and hang up. Then they would know you were serious and they might call you back and match the $1, 500.00.

Just so we are all clear. Some people think I am being rude to the dealer. I am extremely firm when they start playing a game.

I gave the dealership an offer, he went to his manager and his manager didn’t even counter. Just told me to bring them an offer. They had no intentions of matching the offer, as I talked to the sales manager to confirm.

If you offer to buy a car at a price, the answer should be known will you sell it at this price. If the answer is always “no” for whatever reason. Tell the customer that and let them move on. Otherwise they are playing games. This dealership admitted that they would never match the offer.

Don’t let dealerships bully you.

Wanna skip these self absorbed "Tomi" types...? Find a "High Volume" dealer. Any dealership that sells 500+ cars per month will ALWAYS give you the best deal. They are high volume because they sell vehicles with no nonsense... easy peasy.

I do this all the time. Just call a location far from you telling them u want to give them a chance to earn your business but u don’t want to waste your time driving out there so u need there best price and ASK FOR THE PRESALE WITH THAT PRICE! Now take that PreSale and go to the next dealership and keep doing that till you get the bottom price possible. I do it all the time.

What it comes down to is knowing what the true invoice is and paying tax tag and title, no fees except for a negotiated doc fee but have them take it off the price of the car. Get that out the door price. If the one dealership doesn't do it go to the next. Keep going until someone caves in.

This is why car salesman consider least respected profession 😂. They talk down to you in a polite way. Takiing in circles.
What he really want is to tell you is FU but he can’t because he’ll get fired when they realize they met they match they give up because they know they take advantage of the next 10 people.
