I just wanted to say that you helped me go bioactive and learn how to properly care for a leopard gecko he had a wonderful life and I was happy that he had the last year of living in proper care (he passed away his previous owners had him for 16 years and horrible care so I knew he wouldn’t live longer I just wanted to give him a happy life before he passed away)

Once again Rebecca, @leopardgeckoyoutube a massive thank you for the publicity and support. Been awesome working with you on Leopard Gecko Enrichment! You're much better at editing videos than me!!

If your plants are dying make sure you have
1. An led light to grow the plants
2. A well draining soil
3. Not too close to the heat
In my experience, a well draining soil was essential in keeping my plants alive. They're currently in a pot, but the pot contains drainage holes, and the soil has some wood chips, loose topsoil and some gravel.

As for heat, I found that the closer the plant is to heat, the worse it typically does (dries out faster).

Underwatering is better than overwatering! I usually don't water my plants for the first 2 weeks to see how they do. After watering (1-2 days) check to see if they're looking better. I water most of my plants weekly, but it's not a lot of water.

Here are the plants that have thrived in my tank so far:
- Pothos
- Succulents
- Zebra Aloe
Don't get a jade plant since it's toxic. I also have a peperomia. It's doing well but I wouldn't recommend it if you can't grow other plants first.

Good luck!

Oh gosh there is so much to learn and buy it seems! I am starting from zero knowledge. I think my little gecko boy would love a bioactive home.
I would love a list, even if links, to all products needed including clean up crew. I really want to provide a bioactive home for my little friend

Hey, ive been wondering what do you feed your isopods? Once i had a bioactive tank, i had so many isopods until their population began to decrease, the last time that i saw an isopod when i was putting new plants in the tank.

Interesting, but research your plants for example the asparagus Fern plant (green far right produces toxic berries as in toxic for animals) Also, I have grown spearmint in my garden, it will take over as it spreads rapidly. It's hard to get rid of if you decide to. I have tried to remove from garden only to find more return.

A lot of the plants where leopard geckos are native to are either A: too big for an enclosure, B: not available to people in stores due to scarcity/endangered species. There's a lot of diverse plants that are also under researched in the regions they are from.
It's partly due to conflict of allowing people in to research the area. Lots of material is censored via internet research in these regions. So its hard to get remote access to it all. Be aware of what you add, research your plants, and their origin.

Other impacts that may have your results vary is your own climates parameters. If you live somewhere that is tropical and there's a lot of humidity in the air it can affect your plants possibly kill them if they require a drier atmosphere.
This is why there are plant hardiness zone maps.
So someone in the UK would have different results than someone in the US based on environmental/atmospheric parameters.

Your environmental/atmospheric parameters may also impact how long your soil may stay moist or how fast it dries. Hence, changing the routine watering rate for each individual watching .

Soil mediums vary as well for example, in the US you can not buy arcadia earthmix arid yet because of current regulation issues for shipping soils. (However, it appears Canada has it.) The same applies to the biodude substrates as it does not meet the UKs regulations yet.
So ingredients vary and change the formula which changes everything from water to growth rate again to nutritional density of the soil.

I can not stress it enough research before adding to the enclosure.
