New leo owners: DONT DO THIS.

Will your gecko survive like this? Sure. Will it be happy and thrive? Absolutely not. Theres so much wrong here its hard to list but I'll try.

1. Zero lighting. Leos benefit from a difined day/night cycle as well as exposure to UV-B.

2. Not enough ventilation at all. Two little vents? Come on.

3. Not enough hides. Hides are super important to leos, it's where theyll spend most of their time furing the day while they sleep. 3 hides is honestly a minimum. One moist to help them shed and two dry split between the hot and cool side of the tank.

4. An almost completely bare tank...this is bad for so many reasons. There's no enrichment here for your pet. Theres also no clutter or cover, which aside from being boring for you and your animal will also possibly stress them out.

5. Heating is extremely important for your pet, and heating mats are highly recommend against. Not only are there much better options but you should have either a dimming thermostat attached to it or a way to check temperature other than YOUR HAND in order to make sure your pet does get too hot or too cold.

6. Space. This plastic tub is just so bad. No pet deserved to live its life in something like this. As a temporary measure it could work, but the minimum permanent size for an adult leo that you want to be happy and theive is a 20gal long. This tub is like half that.

7. Food. First, mealworms arent a great staple food for leos. Crickets or dubia roaches are better for their usual diet. Second, 60 large mealworms at a time?? Wild. Look up actual feeding routines for leopard geckos cause this aint it.

This might be acceptable for breeders that have hundreds of geckos to house at once, but those geckos arent living like this their whole life. Housing a fully grown gecko like this as a pet boarders on abusive. Why would you want to house a little buddy like this? Its not good and you can't even watch them. In all honesty and in my opinion this seems like something a breeder put together to sell more geckos to people who think a proper setup is just too much for them.

Question: Would giving the enclosure a large mesh widow on the lid of the effect the humidity in a negative way for the gecko? Or is it better to just have those small ventilation holes?

No, nothing is right, bigger terraium, more substrate, never help people with leos, you know nothing about them.

You definitely need a thermostat on that heat mat! There is no excuse for not unsung one. I cannot believe a breeder wouldn’t include that info. You also need thermometers as well. You have no way to know what temps are!

Need your help bro, i just got one from a family member a couple days ago, came with 2 bulbs. My room temp at night is anout 70 to 75 at night . I was wondering the red night light is necessary at night or is it bad for they’re eyes. Also humidity is around 70 at night but i can be wrong because im not sure if the round humidity gauge and temperature gauge are accurate . Please help lol idk what to do

Heating pads really aren’t great at heating through tubs & aren’t great overall. Animals are not used to heat coming from under, as that is not where the sun would be.
