I was mulling over the decision on selling to a dealership/Carvana or doing a private sale. Like you said, you can get more money selling privately… but I like your quote “what is peace of mind worth to you?”. That’s so true and I always have that in the back of my mind. I also live by the phrase “time is money”. It takes a lot of time and effort to sell privately as well and you will never get that back. If I was a professional at selling cars privately, it would be a whole different story. I admire people who have the patience and knack for doing that

I’m on board with you. 57 years old. Lots of cars and experiences last 40 years. Grown to despise dealerships and selling / buying privately. Last dealership experience was 30 years ago. Most recent purchase through Carvana. Loved it. No nonsense.

I used a company called ALGO. Gave me more than $1000 than Carvana offered. The process was smooth and easy. When the car was picked up the driver hooked it up to a computer to check everything. It all checked out. He handed me a check and drove off. Avoiding the headache of selling privately was well worth it for me.

Do they give you a 1099? I have an offer of $35k from Carvana for a truck that came as a trade for a couple of collector vehicles, I am afraid I'll have to show as capital gains in my tax return

Maxda dealership offered me $18.500 for my wifes 2018 Mazda CX 9. Carmax gave me $21, 200. I should have checked with Carvana just to see. I sold it to Carmax. It was a very simple transaction went very well. Always check around, you never know.

I wanted to see what my truck was worth so a week ago I put the information in carvana and got an offer of 48, 800
Went back to the email this morning the offer had expired, the new offer was 52, 400
Going to keep the truck because they're too damn expensive to replace but it's tempting.
