1966 Mustang Restoration - Does my shock tower need removal and reinstallation??

I suspect that my passenger shock tower is bent inward 1/2" and possibly slightly back toward the firewall slightly. I'm looking for some advice from those of you who may have faced this before. Should I cut out my shock tower and re-install it? Any advice from any of you who have done this? Thanks in advance!

You need to go to Jo Daddy‘s Garage YouTube channel, he is one of the best that I’ve seen that builds cars from the ground up. He can help you with the measurements you will need. He is the one I would go to if I have any problems. Good luck.👍

I have a similar situation. It’s like the shock tower needs to be pushed out about 1/2 .

Check the square of the engine compartment. Use the corner of the cowl to the opposite side front of the radiator support. I used a two threaded rods in the holes for the upper control arm bolt holes in the shock towers to set the separation and centered to the car. Also used a longer threaded rod between the inter fender skirt sides just below where the hood hinges mount to set those centered to the car with the right separation for the hood hinges. Also the front frame rails should be about 27.5 inches inside to inside. I have a diagram withe the measurements I used somewhere. I will try to find it and post a copy. I would check a lot of measurements befor I started moving shock towers. To be sure the front frame rails have the correct separation, bolt the front crossmember under the shock towers.

I would start with the hood. Measure the width of the hood and then measure distance between fenders to see what the difference is?. If it is too narrow for hood then yes I suggest removing all the panels from the pass side to bend tower out but how about a bar or jack / come along to bend it out rather than cut and re-weld. Or maybe weaken the connection but do not remove totally as re alignment will be a pain. . Hope that helps because if the width is correct between the fenders (About 1/2 inch wider than hood), then maybe you do not need to move pass side out any further UPDATE... was thinking if the front frame rail is pushed in taking the tower with it?? maybe spreading the frame rails will move the tower with it.. can we see if frame rail is straight or bent in??
