Riding a reef with unpredictable ramps

After a 18 month hiatus from this reef I tried bodyboarding it again today. Every time I 'think' the wave stabilizes and is offering me a straight line to ride-- it throws up a ramp in front of me, then another ramp, then ANOTHER ramp. The only thing I can do is hold on and hope for the best. Steppy and rampy joyrides for days!

Sometimes it get's sketchy as some of the waves I surf (shallow reefs, dry reefs, deep ocean slabs) get pretty gnarly. I know exactly where that break is. Used to boog it years ago when I was a grom. Looks like the swell direction was a little too east to work properly. When it’s a bit more north it hits the takeoff zone first so the takeoff is not fat like you said. More like a foamball. Then the next section wraps hard around the reef, making a sick launchpad on barrel exit. Try it again when the swell direction is a bit more north and a bit bigger. Mid tide going to low is best. Sketchy at full low.
