Biogerontologist David Gems on the innate plasticity in aging, senolytic drugs and whether we should expect dramatic breakthrough in the aging field.

'People expressed the idea that if you could enhance maintenance processes within organisms, you could essentially control completely the accumulation of damage and you could extend lifespan dramatically. More recently it’s become clear that the higher up the evolutionary ladder you go from worms up to flies, to mice, to rhesus monkeys, to humans, the less innate plasticity there seems to be in aging.'

David Gems, Professor of Biogerontology, University College London

So, three years later: the plasticity of simpler life forms lend an ability to extend those lives. As life forms become more complex, extending those lives becomes more difficult. But the growing computing powers of artificial intelligence should aid research and development for extending complex life forms as well.
The Yamanaka effect does apply to a general aging mechanism. Curing aging.
Good video!

Here's my take : you might slow aging, but NO, we will & can never END aging. Here's why ; gravity is the main cause, & even if you can find away around getting out of gravity's effects you'd develop some serious bio-physiological malfunctions, as well as change in epigenetics expression errors will still occur. Then there is Mitochondrial Metabolism ; in the process of producing ATP oxidation produces harmful damaging Free Radicals in our body, & oxygen is something we can't do without. Humans are NOT meant or designed to live forever. Hence, cell death is IMPOSSIBLE to stop. Human lifespan is a fixed constant. But in today's Modern Living, longevity will be hard to attain. So, live with it, deal with it, because Death is NOT the End. Know why? Humanity : We Ended at the Beginning.
