It’s not that the media isn’t telling people 😂 It’s that fewer and fewer people are willing to work those thankless jobs. It’s complicated. Young people now want meaning in their career. Or they went to college and want to use their degree. But mostly, a shockingly large percentage of the people who would normally fill those jobs (men) are simply choosing not to. They are choosing not to work at all, in fact. They aren’t represented in the unemployment numbers (which are good by all other measures) because they aren’t technically unemployed and looking for work. They just don’t work. By choice. And they live with their mom or girlfriend or wife, who pays the bills for them. We have created this problem and the question we should be asking isn’t “why doesn’t anyone know these “awesome” manufacturing jobs exist?”, but rather “why doesn’t anyone want to work these supposedly “awesome” jobs?”

6 figure pay is a lie. You would probably make 24 dollars an hour. If you did the math that comes out to about 50, 000 dollars per year with no overtime.
If we want people to go into these jobs we would at least have to make 50 dollars an hour for that job since a lot of innovation has happened to the point where it’s more tempting to learn an office job that I can have my own air conditioning, stay at home to work, not get dirty, less dangerous, and work in a clean environment.
