They are great cars. In some respects the auto is better if you don't like the right hand side gear change. But you can get used to that. The biggest issue IMO is inadequate comprehensive maintenance which also must include the body. There are allot of pretty cars with very serious rust. And the only option is to pull it completely apart and service the car properly. Pretty much most 70 year old cars need this.

When I was a 18 year old lad in Adelaide, South Australia looking for my first car in May 1971, a salesman at a car yard I visited asked me if I would be interested in a 1954 Bentley. I looked at the car quickly and said Hell No! It just didn’t seem like the right sort of car for a long haired 18yo male! Nearly all of my mates had Holdens or Minis. The Bentley just looked old! Bought a 1963 EH Holden instead.

WELL I LOVE MY 53 BENTLEY R SALOON. I WANT TO GET A PAINT JOB THIS YEAR. I THOUGHT THESE CARS, ARE WORTH ALOT MORE THAN 45K MORE LIKE 60K.
