Old movies were made by people who've experienced life at its hardest. Modern movies are made by people who've experienced life at its easiest.

“We don’t want something relatable. We want something to aspire to.” Yes, yes, yes!👏🏻

Young Men like old movies because Male characters in those movies were allowed to be masculine and engage in dominant behaviour without being ridiculed or called toxic .

As a GenX’er I am incredibly relieved to see masculinity being embraced again by young men. Just remember: masculinity isn’t all about power, particularly power over others. My grandfather fought in WW2. He was a real man: reliable, loyal, effective, strong, a man who loved his family, who could be kind, selfless, empathetic. And he’d knock your teeth out if you truly deserved it.

There's nothing sexier than a man comfortable with his masculinity. I love the stoic, decisive and resilient men of the classic screen.

Here’s a secret. Men love masculinity. New Hollywood trying to tell us otherwise is why we go to the classics.

These same old movies will appeal to men in 100 years

Very good point on "we don't want relatable, we want something to aspire to".

We want LEADERSHIP.

My late husband was a gentleman. He was second to none.

I have to say, it works the other way too.
As a millennial woman, I have a lot of admiration and reverence for the class and elegance of women from eras past.

I have said for years now there's been a way, way waaayyy over-feminization of American men. This video is spot-on

“A lot of modern men grew up without a strong father” as a danish guy, living in one of the most feminine countries, you couldn’t be more right.

You nailed it.
I'm a 58 year old man.
I've watched the sissification of our nation.
Time for your third point: Action.
We retake media with strong, wise, courageous male characters.
Strength and honor gentlemen.

I'm 21 years old and people think I'm crazy for liking these old masculine movies more than the modern movies of today. Arnold Schwarzengger, Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Sylvester Stallone, Sean Connery etc. I feel more relatable to these guys than the garbage hollywood is trying to feed us today. These guys truly inspire me. I hope in the future we can bring back this golden age style of movies or maybe even better

I’m a millennial and I’m proud of the fact that 80% of what I watch is TCM. Older movies to me not only embraced the old values of masculinity and femininity that made western civilization great, but also older movies were actually made with love and hard work

Male characters had stoicism. Now they act like children.

Media (in general) used to be aspirational for men, not just movies. Comic books gave us Superman and Batman, TV shows gave us the Rifleman, Lone Ranger. Books gave us John Carter, etc.

As a woman, I also prefer old movies to new especially 1920s to 1950s, that is all I watch usually. It is so nice how women were ladylike and feminine and men were very manly and strong while also being gentlemanlike.

His advice, his clothing, his charisma and the way he speaks. A perfect symbiosis for a gentleman. Chapeau!

My man, you have such a clear voice. You do not need to put subtitles there to captivate us, because your voice does that seamlessly.
