You've decided to learn a new language - fantastic! But especially if the only exposure you've ever had was a terrible classroom experience back in high school, then you're probably feeling a little stuck! What to start with? Do I get a book, which apps, do I sign up for a course...how and when should I study?

In this video I hope to answer all of these questions for you and show you exactly HOW and WITH WHAT you should start learning a new language if your goal is to speak it as soon as possible.

I'm so impressed when I saw your German video and how you studied law in Germany! I've never lived there but I enjoy learning the language and would like to learn it to a level where I could read and understand the basic Grundgesetz der Bundesrepublik.

My goal is to learn:
all nordic languages + irish.
Currently learning danish and irish together.
There are so many times I just either mixed up danish with irish and vice versa or forget the vocab.
But your videos uplifts and make me believe that it is possible.

Keep us uplifted and motivated 👍🙏

Reading out loud is a very useful but overlooked tool, it practices reading, speaking, pronunciation AND understanding/vocabulary enhancement
Keep it at your level, start with small dialogues and as you advance build up, if you use study books the dialogues in there work perfectly

THE DK AUDIO AND BOOK PACK ACTUALLY HELPED YOU!?
I am blown away by that haha, because I have 3 of those (Chinese, French and Spanish) and the content in them is so funny that I did a whole video that was basically just comedy based on the phrases in those books haha.
Seriously though, I am glad it helped you, not saying anything against the method, I'm just amazed it worked for someone.

OKAY THAT INTRO YASSSS so professional, i love! Such such helpful tips! Consistency is definitely key, I agree that creating simple, measurable goals and not overwhelming yourself with so many resources will help. Once I break through Italian a bit more, I want to return to Dutch <3 At 2:40 what is the website you are doing your lessons on??

I found an interesting use for Google translate. I was watching a YT video, in English by an Aussie expat, and he uttered a phrase in Spanish that I did not understand. I listened carefully then spoke the same Spanish phrase into Google translate and I received an accurate translation. Spanish is my "poor cousin" in language learning as most of my efforts go into learning other foreign languages.
