Finally, a true Ford Ranger Raptor contender lands on our shores. The 2024 Toyota Hilux GR Sport has more than just decals and badges giving it street and off-road cred—this is quite a big upgrade over the previous model, which was more GR Sport in name, but not in spirit.

We were able to take it out on a quick drive during the last leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup 2023, and we guarantee the improvements were apparent over the brief time we had with this Dakar-inspired truck. Click play on the video above for our initial impressions.

This Hilux GR Sport deserves to have AT LEAST a stock 33" tires (the stock Ranger Raptor had a 32.7")! That would fit perfectly with its oversized fender flares!

before this actual's car arrival there were already these kinds of kits in Evangelista and Banawe. Turning Hilux J and G to almost same, at least aesthetically. in essence, the metal body is same.. just all plastic claddings and mouldings. so it is a no for me. The only thing I crave from the GRS is the rear aircon vents. And i don't understand why on a 1.9m conquest they can't give a vent at the back..

The interior is just Jurassic tbh. Improved suspension, but with the looks of it, it dips and swings allover the place and whats with that overfender? Was hoping this to be a real contender to the Ford Raptor, atleast they got the engine segment.

There's something about the exterior that makes the design looks out of proportion. The front looks nice though but other angles it's weird

Yehey! Another non workhorse but a status symbol truck. I lift kaagad without adjusting the headlights para silaw at alam na naka lift pick up natin😂😂😂

This Hilux is a bummer IMO. They facelifted it, they tuned the engine (not a new one btw which was wrongly described here), with a slightly better KYB tuned suspension. Its a Hilux GRS with a better tuning. Period.

Let’s be honest Toyota people, while it looks good (aside that it skipped leg day), this is charging too much money for the same thing, almost. We deserve better!
