President-elect Donald Trump promised massive hikes in tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada and China starting on the first day of his administration. The move will be in retaliation for illegal immigration and “crime and drugs” coming across the border, he said. Mexico’s president responded, saying that “neither threats nor tariffs” will solve immigration or drug issues in the US. Catch up on CNN’s coverage:

If trump wants to stop drugs crossing the border then he should tell Americans to stop buying drugs, because if there is a buyer there is always a seller

The people who voted for Trump don't have the right to complain when prices go up

I'm Canadian. Do Americans really believe the Canadians are illegally crossing the border to flee to the US ????
And as far as "drugs" go, Americans on our Canadian border come across to get our cheaper drug prescriptions, like insulin.

Here is Mexico trying to solve all the problems as always, and what about the USA? ! Educate your people! Stop consuming drugs! Stop selling guns! Invest in your people ( health care, education, housing ) and not in war!
All my respects to MEXICO ❤

Mexico, as a country, also faces a significant problem: the United States. Across the vast border between the two countries, millions of weapons and large sums of money flow daily, fueling violence in Mexico and strengthening the power of drug cartels. The gun laws in the United States, which make it very easy to purchase firearms, worsen this issue. Moreover, the United States does not seem to care about controlling the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico because many people profit significantly from it. On the other side, these weapons make illicit groups, like drug cartels, stronger, weaken Mexican authorities, and cause thousands of Mexicans to suffer from violence.

These illegal groups, which are growing increasingly powerful due to the influx of weapons, expand their reach and facilitate the entry of more illicit drugs into the United States, such as fentanyl, which causes numerous deaths and tragedies. The money generated from this trade is used, among other things, to buy more weapons. Both countries need to work more closely together to tackle this issue and find solutions.

In my opinion, imposing tariffs, as Mr. Trump has proposed, will not help at all. Instead, it will increase the prices of many products in the United States, driving inflation even higher. From my perspective, this shows that Trump, as always, does not know what he is doing and is using this issue merely as a tool for political controversy.

To all Americans. The Tariff is a tax. You're going to be paying more on your groceries, gasoline, cars, and toys. Everything you buy is going to cost you more. Do you people not understand ? The rich don't care.

Is he trying to blame Canada too for drugs and weak borders? 😂 our worst mass shooting in Canada was caused by a gun smuggled FROM THE US. Most drugs come to Canada from the US border…

Why should Mexico stop the migration that aims to get to the United States?.. Mexico should charge United States fee for doing their job since Mexico isn't their final destination.
