If you have a chronically weak cell phone signal, how can you give it a boost without having to wander outside in search of a stronger connection?

Hey guys, thank you for all of your awesome content. Wanted to point out the use of link to cell or link to mobile landline Bluetooth enabled cordless phones. They connect your hard line phone to your cell via Bluetooth, utilizing both home number and cell number simultaneously. The extra hardline handsets act as signal handoffs through the house (I believe) increasing the signal range. Standalone Range extenders also available that connect with the landline base unit further increases this local footprint. I'm sure this was mentioned but I did not read all 400 comments before posting. Thanks again guys, I've learned so much from this channel!

Gotta love that A. Huxley reference - I love Linus for his down to earth opinions, despite being in charge of a tech channel!

I use a simple 30 dollar antenna and attach it via a homemade connector directly to the little rf port under the battery cover. It goes from 2-3 bars of 3g past hsdpa and maintains a solid 3 bars of 4g which is enough to stream video on laptop using phone as hotspot. Cheapest way I could find.

it isn't the concrete, it is the metal in the rock aggregate in the concrete. reinforced concrete is even worse because the reinforcement can act like a leaky faraday cage. there is some research headed in the direction of removing metals from concrete for better wireless signaling but it is pretty hard to find an aggregate that isn't conductive but is as hard as the rocks that are normally used. while the sand and rocks that are used are everywhere in great abundance at low cost. so meh.

Thanks for including the former RBC Center, now the PNC Arena, in your video. Raleigh, NC represent!

Would appreciate you had also covered Circuit switch and Packet switch, which is the main reason for drop between VOIP (packet switch) and network provided (circuit switch) methods. Maybe another video on this topic- if not already covered would be nice. I trust you on that Linus and TechQuickie team.

I want to thank you very much for taking the time to explain about boosting internet signal for cell phones also you really help me out. By explaining about Wi-Fi calling. In my apartment recently I've been having internet blockage from cell phone tower. In Los Angeles. I'm at work on Wi-Fi and a coworker looked at your video and explain how to use Wi-Fi calling. We tested out and it worked. Thank you very much for your information.

Femtocells exist here in the UK, but the only carrier I know that sells them is Vodafone. You have to register them with an address and postcode so that anyone can use them to call the emergency services. It also accounts towards both your 3g/4g data allowance and your home internet allowance (assuming you don't have unlimited).

For slow data connections, the compression option in the Opera web browser (pretty sure there is a similar plugin for Google Chrome) is basically a VPN connection that compresses the data being sent to you before it is downloaded. It reduces the amount of information that has to travel over the slow connection, but involves handing your data to a 3rd party privacy policy...

As someone whose only access to Internet is through my phone, this is helpful.
