YA isn't bad. There are many great YA books. Don't let books like _Twilight_ give YA a bad reputation. But I do prefer adult fantasy like _A Song of Ice and Fire_ and _Lord of the Rings_.

Like if you like The Hunger Games, Twilight, Harry Potter, John Green, Percy Jackson, The Mortal Instruments, The Maze Runner, If I Stay or Vampire Diaries!

I can't listen to audio books. I need to read and picture everything in my head. Also CINDER IS THE BEST!

I hate the bad rap that YA gets. Yeah, maybe some story lines aren't necessarily the most literarily significant or meaningful, but why can't we just read for fun?
Plus, there are so many gems within the YA world!!
I guess I've a year then, until I've gotta start buying books for my niece.

The thing I hate is when people assume you somehow ARE what you read, or that that's all you like. You say "I'm quite liked Twilight" and they immediately start judging you because you must be some shell of a girl like Bella, or be some crazed fan girl who thinks it's the best thing ever written. You just want to shake them and say: "I also read and enjoyed [The God Delusion/Game Of Thrones/The History Boys...] and even if I didn't that would be FINE!"

Some people act like they have never giggled at a shallow rom-com, or glanced at a gossip magazine and, if they ever accidentally touch a novel without huge amounts of subtext and social commentary, their skin blisters because they are so allergic to anything 'average'. These people are either liars, or just exceedingly dull.

When it comes to books in general, there are good books, there are bad books, there are well written books and poorly written books.

It's unfortunate that a lot of people dismiss YA because they're aimed for a certain age group.

The latest YA fad it seems are the dystopian themed books. But like adult books, YA has different genres, not just vampires and dystopian and yes, the majority of YA has romance in it but there are some that doesn't focus on the romance.

And I'm pissed that the HG movies emphasize the love triangle when in the book it wasn't so in your face.

I once drove from Colorado to northern Idaho while listening to Harry Potter, book 7. When I got home, I sat in the driveway for another twenty five minutes to hear the end.

Did this video seriously just start off comparing Bella from Twilight to Jesus?

Most people hate Twilight because it's 'cool' to do so. I personally enjoyed it because I'm a fan of romantic novels. I'm very picky with romantic novels now versus when i was 12 reading Twilight. I loved them then so I still love them now despite all the psychoanalysis people do on the books. I love them for the joy they brought then and the memories they bring back now. If you have a legitimate reason to dislike them after having fully read the novel and giving it a real chance then that's fine. If you just hate it because everyone else does, or you read a single page then close it, you're not being cool, you're being immature. Give books a chance at least.

You guys should do a video about people 19 and earlier who like classics (kind of like a reversal of this one).

Is it just me or are all books considered "young adult" now a days?

IT WAS SCARLET!!! I am in LOVE with that book. I've read it like... ten times. The third book is so intense though, and when Wolf is shot by Sybil on their way to meet Cress, I thought I was gonna die. HE CANT BE HURT! But luckily he was healed. Yay! (Sorry, I just went total Lunar Chronicals fangirl here. :P)

Something I've noticed with YA (and I notice this in myself too tbh) is that there are more and more adult readers.
When I was younger, I never read any YA books because I was sick of seeing "boy meets girl" plot lines. To avoid romances I was lead to reading tons of science fiction novels that I probably had no business reading. Now that I'm older (nearly 20), I find it much easier to enjoy YA books. There are actually a lot of interesting themes in YA (mainly those that aren't marketed as "YA romance, " and some that are) and they tend to be incredibly imaginative or surprisingly insightful. I'm thinking that as your analysis skills improve, it's easier to recognize the nuances and true story behind the romance and ignore the romantic aspect if you choose to.
I think people are really too hard on young adult novels.
