Thank God my grandfather survived it. He was also a British soldier fighting the Japanese. We belong to Northern Pakistan my grandfather didn't live long compare to his brothers all of whom were actually reached there 90s most likely due to participating in war. He use to tell our mother how he spent days without food and would even eat raw meat in order not get killed by the Japanese or by hunger.

I'm wondering if it's a common drum beat for the IJA or if they were heavily inspired by the film. The scene is also pretty similar.

“皇宮警察” means the Imperial Palace Police. They are a police force that provides security for the Imperial Palace, not a military unit. Such an organization would never be sent to Singapore. This video has not been historically examined.

My english teacher shared a story that his grandfather during the invasion of singapore was caught by japanese then oined up for shooting. They japanese shot but he was shorter than the others so they missed him. The teacher’s grandfather fell from the falling men beside him pushing him down and stayed down. He stayed in the water until the japanese troops went away and ran back to his home when they did. He soon got the passport shit by a friendly japanese stamper guy and that’s where the story ended.
