There's an old axiom that you can't be what you can't see. Perhaps if you think about what inspired you to enter into your current job, or line of study, you'll recognize a role model or two that inspired you to take your current path.

That's why NASA and the Energy Department are teaming up on Wednesday, March 5, 2014  at 1pm EST to host a Google+ Hangout, showcasing women in STEM at NASA and Energy that are changing the world and addressing the serious shortage of women and girls engaged in STEM fields in the United States, and showcasing strong role models for students of all genders.

Dr. Katie Gallagher, from NASA's Office of the Chief Technologist will moderate a conversation for students, teachers, parents, and STEM educators. Director Dot Harris, Office of Economic Impact and Diversity at the Department of Energy, will be on the line with Dr. Rebecca Spyke-Keiser, Associate Deputy Administrator for Strategy and Policy at NASA; Shannon Walker, NASA astronaut at Johnson Space Center in Houston; Jill Fuss, Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and a class at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Titusville, Florida, to discuss ways to find role models for young people in STEM fields and answer questions from students and the general public about STEM careers.

Join Women @ Energy  and Women @ NASA  to hear from women role models leading the way in transformative science, innovation, cutting-edge research, and combating climate change.

I Never had a STEM role model, but I'm in my senior year of college for electronics engineering. It's great to see this kind of support and people who's trying to make a change.
I wish something like this existed in my country.

i'm not really sure what job i will follow in the field of science but i'm really interested in aeronautical engineering, astronomy, astronauts and also medical research, but i still have to see which one i really like, basically i would like a job that included all of this and also fundraising/volunteering and solutions for CO2, climate change and that you also could travel to different parts of the world, so what i know already is it'll be something related to science, which 1 i'm not 100% sure yet, but i hope to make the right choice that i will like to work and enjoy what i do basically, i'm going to university in less than 2 years or so, so until then i have some research to do, but thanks NASA to explain the different paths you can follow to reach what you want! many thanks... i will follow my dreams and i hope other people do too so we all can change the world to better place and make a difference! :) x
