As someone who has never played an MMO until starting FFXIV late last year and has dexterity problems due to health conditions I can't recommend the summoner enough. It was a good way to learn the game (and the genre as a whole) giving me enough confidence to branch out a bit. The only problem is until later levels (say, 70 +) it can get a bit boring after a time, which is why I switched to dancer.

Arcanist, so you have access to a Caster and Healer later in the game, and the ability to switch between them if you get bored.

Arcanist is the ultimate "¿Por qué no los dos?" of FFXIV classes. When you get to Job time, you can level up your DPS Summoner and get the Healer Scholar leveled up at the same time for free! Or vice versa, if that's how you prefer to swing things.

Always go DPS if it was your first attempt playing FFXIV.

Highly disagree on DRG beeing the best melee-pick to start with, while I do agree under the aspect of ogcd-weaving, DRG is very uninteresting to play until around 60 where MNK gets it`s basekit at lvl 30 and you also get your full aoe-combo before 50 where DRG stays the one-button-wonder until your in StB.

my first main was archer as i needed to become a dancer. loved the job to a T but since i needed to do more dmg in end walker i switched to viper when DT came out and wow. class is insanely good

For me, summoner was like a hydra, i just can't play right, so i changed to archer. it was so easy-
but now i'm learning how to play with summoner, why not!

6:40 tbh i consider this as a "drawback". You can be serious overwhelm if you decide to switch at higher lv. i was :D like hellll no i don't wanna learn a fairy xD
Summoner and White mag are the best to start with.
I would recommend healer so you can enjoy story without waiting. Queues can be annoying for dps.

I started as thaumaturge, and because of that, everything else I play is easy asf compared to it, definitely worth starting on a hard job!

Arcanist was my choice as a new player and I had a good time 😊

Best class to start with is clearly Arcanist, then I'd say maybe Marauder or Conjurer

I started as original SMN back before heavensward, then switched to BLM when the topaz tank carbuncle was no longer able to solo tank a massive fate...

This meant I had to learn the world with every NPC explaining bro'kn totorals dat ar' a wee bit' haurd tur reed.
SMN was possibly the hardest class because it was useless without the pet that could die
Switch to BLM after BLM became Megumin skill requirement

I am very sure this level of introduction difficulty no longer exists. Play anything and you will have an easier time than I did due to multiple improvements

When I started I loved Archer but got turned off of Bard by the early job quests. I switched to Tank and have since gotten 3/4 to 90.

I dunno, when you realize the monk dragon kick spam isn't a massive dps loss, it becomes the easiest melee job XD

Started as Black Mage, couldnt even finish ARR, getting killed all the time in Coerthas / Mor Dhana. Years later I create a Warrior and its almost impossible to die lmao.
