How to avoid getting dizzy or sudden falls | Orthostatic Hypotension
Показать описание
Do you get dizzy when you stand up or walk? Or do you suddenly fall without any reason? If you do then you need to watch this video.
If you get dizzy when you stand up or walk and sometimes have a fall, you might be confused on what makes you fall or what makes your legs give out. It could be that your blood pressure dropped or what they call orthostatic hypotension. I would advise that you see a doctor to rule out other medical conditions. But in this video we will be doing exercises that you can do to regulate your blood pressure before standing or walking.
Before we start let’s test something first. Stand up and check if you are dizzy. If you are then sit back down. That is one symptom that your blood pressure might be dropping. Now let’s start.
First exercise is ankle pumps. Just rock your ankles 20 times.
Second exercise is marching in place. Still while sitting down, bring your knees up alternating as high as possible.
Third exercise is opening and closing your hand. Just open and close your hands 20 times.
Fourth exercise is elbow bending. Just bend and extend your elbows 20 times.
Now that you have done the exercises, try to stand up and check if you’re still feeling dizzy.
So what happened was movements helped in regulating your blood pressure so that your blood pressure will not suddenly drop when you stand up. Because when you stand up and you have not been as active, your body is not as used to the more taller position.
Aside from doing this exercises before you stand up and start walking, I would advise that you need to stand up more often during the day. So for example when you’re watching TV, during commercial breaks stand up for one minute. Or every 30 minutes, stand up for one minute. And spread this out throughout the day.
