I’ve been wearing Tevas since the early 90s. If I go all day in them, I experience some of the same issues. The deal breaker for me making them a hiking shoe is my pinky toe. Something isn’t right about my pinky toe placement against the buckle. Good experiment and feedback.

I've liked my Xero sandals as well. More as water crossing/camp shoes than actual hiking shoes for me.

I’ve done miles in my Tevas in bare feet, and love them. It takes a couple of hikes to get the straps adjusted right, but once they are broken in they are easy on / off. That said, Tevas are conventional footwear, with cushioning and support, not even claiming to be minimalist.

I only recently got introduced to the whole minimalist / barefoot shoe concept, and got a pair of xero prios. So far I really like them, but they are not really comfortable as much as natural. I did 3 miles my first time with them and didn’t suffer all the pain some people said would happen, which is good. I also got the z-trail sandal but haven’t tried it yet. Waiting for warmer weather.

"I don't know why I don't feel it on my right foot." The answer is probably because your right foot is slightly smaller/larger than your left foot. I've been wearing sandals recently and it's something I noticed, my left foot is slightly bigger. Every pair of sandals I wear, I have to make the left sandal straps a little looser.

Great video, I used to hike in sandals often when I lived in Ohio, but I haven’t been confident enough to wear them on the trails around here in Montana where I now live. Enjoyed the review!

Teva. Got like 40 years of making and perfecting a product. Also, killer customer support.

I wanna try Luna next. Expensive though 😮

Xeros have three points of adjustment - the forefoot, the instep and the heel. The heel adjustment places your foot in the fore and aft position on the sandal . The TEVOS appear to have only 2 points of adjustment with no adjustment for heel position.

I did a comp with the Xeros and the more hiking oriented Tevas, found the same kinds of things.

I wear my Tevas everywhere and almost never with socks. In rare circumstances, I have put on a pair when the temps drop...

Edit: I want to mention that you should obviously condition your feet to this type of footwear. A person who goes out and buys a brand new pair of Teva's and then tries to hike in them is going to have poor results. For me, this is really my only option and I've had to adapt to it due to struggling with Dyshidrotic eczema most of my life and shoes are usually a "no-go" for me.

Omg same thing happens to me on my pinky toe, but on my right pinky toe. It’s frustrating and I’ve had it for almost a year now. Would these originals work on the hike up to Pill Box or Diamond Head in Oahu? I heard it’s so much incline and a bit rocky? - Marilou

Hi, what kind of socks do you recommend to wear with the Tevas?

That was a good view of the Teva sandals. I'm surprised the teva didn't work out as well as the other sandals did. Years ago I used to have a pair of teva's like those. Man I wore those sandals out man. This was just before my foot outgrew tennis shoes. As a matter of fact I had these sandals when my foot out Grew Tennis Shoes then so I had this Teva sandals probably about a good 3 to 4 years before they wouldn't fit me anymore. My foot got wider at the time and my toes got fatter at the time and the sandals would not fit on my foot anymore. Man the footbed on those sandals were so worn out that I had a nice wide worn out 4 toe print on the footbed of the sandals. Everything else on the footbed look like new except for where my toes were. The footbed was built real strong then for me to get 4 years of wearing them every single day because that was the only Footwear that will fit me then. I need to see if they make Tevas in my size and get me another pair cuz I really like Teva sandals. I know I'm probably going to have to do some modifications to the velcro straps to make the sandal fit on my foot. Question? When you're not hiking do you wear the Teva sandals & do you wear them without the socks on. I'm curious cuz you said the strap was rubbing the side of your lil toe. But I'm thinking about getting a pair of these. I need a sandal that I can put on will easy and not having my toes get caught up in the straps like I do with flip flops. It gets very aggravating when the Flip Flop strap gets caught up in between my third and fourth toe every single day trying to put them on both of my feet. Appreciate if you could let me know sir. And thank you for the review. Sorry to hear that the Teva did not perform for you cuz they are a great sandal better than Chacos in my book.

@1:00 it looks to me like you bought sandals a couple of numbers too big. No wonder your pinky tries to escape. With a proper size, that strap should be right over the pinky's joint. Never had Tevas, this is just an observation.

It's because your used to one shoe over another..I've had a hand full of Teva sandled and a hand full of chaco's..long run, the chaco's we're built better..I had 2 or 3 pairs of Teva's were the soles started to "unglue" after low miles..I glued them back but I shouldnt have to do that to a shoe with less than a year of milage..if a shoe company told you that there shoe had a chance of sole coming apart within a year, there's no way anyone would buy them..just saying..BUT those were older pairs..in all fairness, that problem could have been fix
