Happy Tree Friends was never a family friendly show, but did you expect it to have its own unofficial bar? This is the story of the Happy Drink Bar in Budapest, Hungary.

It's sad that the bar closed in 2023 but Budapest has a Mr. Bean themed café though. I hope that there will be a Happy Tree Friends themed café in Budapest one day.

And no it's not a Hungarian tradition to serve popcorn in a dog bowl but also most bars don't even serve popcorn either.

I DID get in contact with one!
They said "One of the table's cuddle's art was an accident, due to the fan-art not being credited, but we got premission's from the artist's."
So, they had premission, IDK about the PPG'S thing

I feel like most people would call this like a bootleg or something. However, there’s like SOOO much effort and passion that was clearly put into the bar that I’d actually consider this to be some odd type of fanart more than anything.

Hey, I used to be a regular here

The open microwave was the hand dryer, The menu was mostly not themed it was mostly a student pub, the dogbowl popcorn was iconic, but it is not a hungarian thing.
The closing of it was a shame, but the regulars community survived. I actualy help in taking the bar down, managed to take one of the signs home with me.

We have a lot of videos and pictures from there, as well as from the closing night

On a related note, there has been a singular photo of a happy tree friends themed kindergarten (of course without the gory parts) circulating in polish parts of the internet. It was quite long ago so it probably doesn't exist anymore, still was pretty funny back in the day.

This used to be our go-to bar when we were in university!
I miss it so much...
Some Fun facts about the place:
- The toilets:
Its not "one of the toilets", its THE toilet.There is a "cozy" man's stall with a urinal and toilet right next to each other, and a female's stall next to it, and thats it.
The box with the lever that says "Party Mód" under it is exactly that. When you pull the lever, it turns on a some party lights on the ceiling (you can see the colorful dots on the wall in the pic). The microwave was actually a hand dryer :D
The Release the kraken thing was the actual flushing lever for the man's toilet.
- The bar:
Under the bar was the "tea house". Basically a little cave with a small table and some more sitting places, if you wanted some privacy

As for the weird videos from that channel:
BME is the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and GTK is the engineering faculty. They most likely madde those videos for some faculty event. Happy Drink Friends must have been their go-to team name.

In Poland (I forgot which city) there was a preschool that accidentally used Happy Tree Friends characters, probably because the owner of this preschool didn't know that this cartoon isn't for kids. I'm not sure what happened next to that preschool.
