John Gibbons is a registered Osteopath, Lecturer and Author and is demonstrating how to treat pain in the lower back using advanced massage techniques. Some would call these soft tissue release, pin and stretch, active or passive release techniques and even muscle energy techniques. These techniques and more is taught on the Soft Tissue course at the University of Oxford.

The Vital Nerves online Masterclass is a comprehensive, must-have roadmap to the functional anatomy & testing of the peripheral nervous system. The course is enriched with anatomical drawings throughout the text for each each lesson and with detailed explanations. The literature is complimented by the associated videos that explains everything from neurological testing, common neuropathies, and differential diagnoses, and is an indispensable resource for physical therapists and bodyworkers.

Osteopath, lecturer and author John Gibbons offers an accessible introduction to the peripheral nervous system (PNS). Alongside real case studies and guidelines for hands-on work with clients and patients. The Vital Nerves masterclass demystifies and makes accessible everything from how to diagnose nerve conditions to understanding how our cells communicate.

➢ Assess the nervous system using a patella (reflex) hammer, myotome (muscle) testing and dermatome (sensory) testing
➢ Determine whether pain in the posterior part of the thigh is caused by the sciatic nerve, piriformis or simply a hamstring strain
➢ Decide at what level a disc may have herniated Differentiate between upper and lower motor neurone disorders
➢ Know what to do with the findings of your neurological assessment and the circumstances under which to refer patients for more specialist care.

On completion of the course you will have the knowledge and practical experience necessary to identify, assess and treat specific pathologies found within the neurological framework and perform a variety of techniques that will help formulate a diagnosis and prognosis for your patients.

Thank you for all of your wonderfull videos i am always beneffit by your wonderful explanations. Do you work only on one side ? concerning the facet joints... her lumbar is in extension (as you mentioned and can be seen ) and if the facets are closed at the left they are also side bended at the left. So what you did was it actually activating her on the close side to be opened ?and assisting in side bending to the right in this case? (Without hvt)? How is it possible to open facet joint by gliding this way? Can you explain please?i cant understand the mechanism behind... since there is no rotation .thank you so much
