U.S. Supreme Court hears argument challenging Affordable Care Act — 11/10/2020

The landmark health-care legislation known as Obamacare will face its third test at the Supreme Court this week before the most conservative panel of justices on the bench in decades.

The top court will hear arguments on Tuesday in a challenge to the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010.

The case was the primary focus of Democrats during the confirmation hearings for Justice Amy Coney Barrett last month. Democrats warned that confirming Barrett, by providing the court a 6-3 majority of Republican-appointed justices, would effectively doom the legislation.

If the court strikes down the law, more than 20 million Americans could lose the health-care coverage they have received under its provisions. The health-insurance industry, which has built itself around the law for 10 years, could be upended.

I have one question for every politician who are pushing for the ACA to be rescinded; “How in any sane world can any of you even be considering abolishing health care coverage for millions of taxpayers when the “FREE” health care that you receive is being paid for by those very same tax payers (especially during a pandemic)?” Please enlighten me???

Has anyone read the ACA? It's about 1000 pages long. The actual mandate act. The mandate is only about 30 pages. The rest of the plan is geared to services to individuals who need it and trying to get a hold on the current medical infrastructure that is strangling us with cost. It has flaws but it's a good start.

What is the answer to providing everyone with healthcare? Democrats have a plan..actually several plans...ACA, Single payer, Public option...what is the GOP's plan? revert back to pre ACA? Health care is a crisis. I loved my health care while living in Japan...and its basically a public option. Prior to getting a job with benefits, after college i had to purchase a catastrophic plan..I paid around $180 a month and had a 10K deductible. ...zero doctors visits...i had to pay for everything until I reached 10K. We need something...something better than the ACA...and we can't revert back. I personally believe everyone has the right to healthcare no matter what their financial situation is....I try to live by two biblical rules..Love God and love your neighbor.

Brown v. Board of Education – Superior Court found it improper to segregate; inequality was wrong.
14TH GUARANTEED all person's born or naturalized in United States equal civil and legal rights...

So it is discriminatory to say only people born in US are allowed to run for President?

Example a candidate born in a foreign country, who did an extraordinary act such as finding the location of Bin Laden/planned the raid too, plus is the best candidate. With overwhelming support from US Citizens having suffered hardship for the US

Because to deprive that right may be considered racial – all MEN are created equal, but are they?

We now know women come into that equation; the Constitution was intended by the framers to be a living document not a dead scroll – because even those we interpret in a modern age.

George Washington and his cohort, particularly Jefferson tried to include effectively slavery was wrong.

THEY LEFT ROOM FOR IT TO EVOLVE PARTICULARLY IN THE 14th.

i.e. IN GOD WE TRUST.... was God discriminatory or is that one of our falsehoods.

Lastly, Chief Justice of the Superior Court sent out a memo like this to get the other Judges to agree to support

 - as the then Chief Justice stated segregation - CREATES AN INFERIORITY IN THE MIND OF THAT CITIZEN AS TO HIS STATUS IN THE SEPARATE BUT EQUAL HAS NO PLACE

All Men (and women) are really Equal and should be treated as such.... No exclusion

China are watching our every move...and we need to demonstrate what we preach

1:11:30 - Justice Sotomayor, if Amy (a hypothetical person) did not enroll in program B when penalty C was active, it seems reasonable to assume that Amy won't enroll in program B in the absence of penalty C. But it's just that - a reasonable assumption, and not an argument. Consider that this assumption comes with its own set of presumptions. One such presumption is that Amy can afford (or had no barriers) to enroll in program B when the penalty was active, but chose not to. If it was only a matter of choice, which should be established, then maybe the assumption is reasonable. However, even then, not every American falls in the Amy category. You might be a young American, hearing about the ACA for the first time and seek to comply because "it's the law".

It is not unreasonable to assume some people would seek to comply, even without a penalty. Others might comply as the word "law" suggests consequences. Even the word "mandate" suggests "mandatory" or "required".

Roberts runs the show. He says what is heard and what is not. And everybody knows he is left.
