My mum died of a broken heart, when her partner of 20 years abandoned her when she had cancer because he wanted "his own life" i watched her heart break when she finally realised he didn't love her, will haunt me until my dying day.

It's always stress related, you'd think we would be less stressed out than our ancestors but that's not the case we're more stressed out than ever before. I wouldn't be surprised if things like this and strokes will be much more common in the future.

My father was fit and had rarely had a days illness. After mum died, he went into a decline. 12 weeks later, he had a massive stroke, and died next morning from a heart attack. The doctor's first words to me were, "I'm so sorry. I could not save him. He died of a broken heart."

My Father is a Doctor and he avoided Sugar, Spices, and Salt always. He walks hours everyday and neither smokes nor drinks. My Uncle, who spend most of their life in Village, is one of the fittest person I have met. Both avoid oil, fatty food, etc. Never eat junk. Never smoke, never drink, and so on.
Both of them sufferred Heart attack and for both the reason was emotional.
It doesn't happen in one day. It is like heart broke and emotional trauma is in everyday life. And one day, suddenly they had heart attack.
My father around 8 years back, but after that he recovered and still healthy and working at age of 74. My Uncle had attack few years back. He also recovered. They also recovered because their families realized the things that were eating them inside and they fixed it.

Emotions can affect part of the heart, it happened to me. One ventricle wasn't working properly, the docter asked if I had had a recent breakup.

Many surviving couples that lost the other half they deeply loved don't often survive for more than one year.

i know certain animals that mate for life can die of a broken heart.
can't recall if it's swan or goose, but my grandpa was out hunting (i only heard the story) and shot up at the birds, he hit one and it dropped instantly, then a minute later as he approached it, he heard a bird noise and turned around to see the female companion of the shot bird flying towards them, she flew past gramps, landed by her deceased mate, curled her neck under his wing, sat down tucking herself in close to him....and that was it, she died then and there.
afterwards gramps inspected several times...no broken bones, no major illness or anything, and absolutely no pellets from the shotgun, she lost the love of her life, and decided to die with him as best she could.
severe shock and trauma sounds so simple, but when you understand the enormous chemical cocktail dump your body gives you and what it does to organs it's no so simple anymore, and it can have detrimental effects on health and function.

When you lose the will to live, your heart would like to stop working for you. I believe we can.

Stress Cardiomyopathy is also known as Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy or Takotsubo Syndrome (TTS). When caused by a significant emotional stressor, it's sometimes called Broken Heart Syndrome. Think of Johnny Cash dying less than 4 months after his wife June Carter Cash.

And this especially can happen to people with hypersensitive nervous systems - HSP people.

I had this after my mother died. What made it worse was my ex spouse found it sexually arousing to see me have such an emotional reaction.
There are very evil people in this world. I do believe my ex hoped I would die.
My mother probably died from broken heart stress as well as cancer.
I also believe people like to exacerbate stress in those who are emotionally sensative. By constantly reminding people who have trauma of that trauma.
People are evil.

I've been diagnosed with Broken Heart Syndrome for a few years now, and try so hard not to make heart get worse. See, I have Autism and Dysthymia, aka Persistent Depressive Disorder and I get really emotional and depressed and when get super depressed, my heart starts to clench like I was having a heart attack, but it wasn't. It's really hard living with this
