Even though age can contribute to someone’s death, it almost definitely won’t be the direct cause.

Old age doesn't kill you it just slows you down enough for the thing that does kill you to catch you

I guess the only honourable way to die is in battle then...

I had a friend who believed in crystal therapy, positive thinking, homeopathy etc. She didn't die of Old Age, but from New Age.

I thought about this exact question once while I was high. Except about old trees, not people...

So in that vein...Ammo propelled from a gun isn't a direct causes of death. Rather death is the result of complications from having an sudden, unexpected hole in you body.

Follow up question: If theoretically someone did die from cellular senescence what would that look like?

My great grandmother died of old age. She was 92, rested her head down on the table and went to sleep/died. It was peaceful and I hope i die like that. no pain

Thank you for making this. My grandfather died recently and it bothered me when they wrote "old age" as a cause for death. All I know was that in the last year of his life, he became so weak that he soon became bedridden. My grandfather was rarely sick and was always on the go, nagging at people and cleaning up his house.

When someone dies at 93 years old without any pain or previous hospitalization, to me that’s dying of old age. That’s how I’d want to go. Here one minute, gone the next without ever seeing it coming.

You don't die of old age, but after 30 years of no sex, they will take you to the wizard land

What about people who just die. They stop breathing and there heart stops beating with no indication of a heart attack or lung failure

What if you took away the mortal bonds, replaced organics with machinery but left the brain intact and alive? Substitute the vocal cords with a speaker, the eyes with cameras and all other organics with an equally powerful machine? How long before the brain would cease to function?

That's slightly depressing, I thought if I were to live instead of kill myself, it would be of old age, but on a less depressing note, since you can't actually die of old age there's still hope in eternal life.

Patient: Doc, be straight with me, how long have I got?
Doc: 5.
Patient: is that five years, five months, five weeks?
Doc: 4, 3, 2...

This is such weird timing because my great aunt, who lived to be 98 years old, died of ""old age"" around three days ago
