UK Heatwave: 'We can expect to see more wildfires in the UK'

The record breaking temperatures indicate that the climate crisis may be even worse than feared as Sky's Tom Clarke reports.

These fires are not all down to the weather there are irresponsible people leaving glass bottles lying around, or worse still people starting them intentionally

I saw a small tendril of smoke in the yellow grass in the park. I ran over with another dog walker to stamp it out.
It had been started by a discarded bottle.

THESE ARE NOT WILDFIRES !
They are incidents of criminal arson, or negligence or even stupidly lighting bbq's, campfires etc. I.E. "Manmade" not naturally occurring.
Therefore not WILDFIRES.

Perhaps now the UK can appreciate the difficulties experienced annually in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and other Countries.

There are always wildfires some are started deliberately some are created by the weather. What has happened today is extremely sad for the people and families whose properties have been destroyed. Massive respect to all the fire crews who are involved with dealing with this situation. Can we please stop with this fear narrative and can we come up with some practical response.

Seen crops so dry they snap in the fields, even then there was not so many fires, funny that. It was before they invented Net Zero though.

I doubt we will see wildfires more often. Lucky for the UK it doesn't reach 40c a lot, even with global warming.

Sky news states we can expect more wild fires in London, Mayor of London says NO BARBEQUES, do not drop cigarettes or bottles . Not sure what that tells me. Just wondering.
