“It is so hot in the U.K. that all flights into Luton Airport had to be diverted when the tarmac actually melted,” says Chris Hayes. “The heat is here right now, not in the future.”

I feel really sorry for the guards outside Buckingham Palace. Those outfits have gotta be super hot, not to mention they have to stand there motionless for hours. That's a recipe for heatstroke.

Why in heck are those guards still standing there. That is inhumane.

Choosing leaders who aren't owned by the fossil fuel industry is the only way we will ever face climate change. The last 30 years has shown that individuals only account for a small amount the problem or solution. Corporations must be held accountable and forced to change. I can't see that happening.

A few tips from living in Australia during terrible heat. Fill your bathtub and cool off in it as often as you need. Eat cold food to avoid cooking in the house. If you have sash windows open them up a small amount at the top and bottom if the air outside is cooler than your house. The air will push in through the bottom of the window and will push out the hot air through the top, which accumulates at the ceiling. Biggest difference I found was lining your windows with aluminium foil. Spray a mixture of soapy water on the window and the foil will stick to it. The foil will bounce back the sun better than any curtains as it's directly against the window. It can cool your house by up to 10C. Good luck Europe. We are all in this together.

The time has come to sacrifice Joe Manchin to the gods of climate change.
Even if the gods don't exist, it will definitely help.

You mentioned Joe Mansion as the problem and neglected to also mention all 50 Republican Senators. They must be mentioned by name.

We've known this was coming for fourty years at least. I've watched my generation casually feast on their children's future. I live to see the youngest generations grab the reins and embark on the great work we've shamefully shirked.

What’s sad about this is that a few people are always blocking any steps to help our climate.

No where is "built" for these temps. They keep saying that. Australian homes are NOT built to stay either warm or cool. Just to "look" good and cost as least as possible

Manchin should just switch parties where he's more comfortable instead of pretending to care about the climate

If we all worked together we would all have to work a lot less harder.

The best part about this is, I get a front row seat as corporations destroy the world, and marvel at the dumb people saying nothing's wrong right when their water becomes undrinkable and you have to now buy water. I wonder will they feel the same way when you have to buy air.

But on the bright side to all of this. Fossil fuel companies are making bank still right up until the world is uninhabitable. This year the Pacific Northwest is more mild. But last year, 116F at Portland Airport

Southern Europe, Italy, Spain, etc, a/c has gotten a lot more common, but most homes don't have central a/c, they usually use ductless wall units which do work well

America should be leading the World 🌎 on Climate. Italy is doing great. Wish we would too

That's a normal summer in the Texas panhandle - melting roads. It gets on your shoes, your car, everything. That black asphalt is a mess.

We're addicted to luxury. It's a simple case of how bad does it have to hurt before we change our self destructive behavior. Classic Addiction.

I've lived in Los Angeles for 37 years. We do this every Aug/Sept. They must not be prepared at all.

Umbrella people. I am in my 70’s and used to 40+ C temps every Summer in Australia and that doesn’t keep me inside. I carry an umbrella that fits in my hand bag all year round. When I was in Rome and they had high 30+ C temps I pulled it out and noticed just about every tourist watching me stroll around in the shade from my umbrella. Sitting on a train in the underground on what was the hottest day London had recorded … pulled out my collapsible Chinese fan and became aware that fellow commuters were watching my fan flick back and forth. Two small items along with a bottle of water that can make heat stress bearable. 🙏 for the people lost in this heat wave.
