Big Bang: Damn it, another bad seed.

I always thought of it as optimistic. By recompressing, it could restart and give rise to a freah universe rather than an eternal cold emptiness.

Big crunch is my favourite out of the 4 main end-of-the-universe-theories because it suggests to the rebirth of the universe after it has "died", quite beautiful in a way

This is actually the best way the universe could naturally end, it'll start a whole new universe again, one big universal heartbeat

Thomas: what if it will happen right now ?
Me: Guess I will die then 💀

It's also theorized Big Crunches may have already happened. That the universe goes into a cycle of Bang, Crunch, Repeat.

Saying it would get to over 5, 000 degrees is a understatement of the temperatures that would be involved. Adding 20 zeros to the number would most likely still not be enough.... Normal matter merely getting crunched into a black hole will rise well above millions of degrees to create Gamma Rays before crossing the event horizon, Gamma rays being the most energetic EM particle we know of, and the "universe" getting crunched would be so much hotter.

I think this is the best way the universe could end because at least reality would restart and existance does not end. Another option is everything drifts away infinitly and the universe freezes.

I prefer this because it implies another big bang would happen.

Bruh the Big Crunch is literally the most optimistic theory.

This would cause millions of years where other planets are much closer together and warmer; and many sentient species could likely exist comunicating with eachother.

Teacher: The big crunch doesn't dismiss you, i do

This fate is still better than the heat death of the universe

that’s better than the universe expanding infinitely and getting colder and darker until there’s nothing left. at least with the big crunch you get a new start lol

you can't ever escape the thought of 'what are the parts that the universe hasn't reached yet'

existential crisis: What if this already happened multiple times and we're an iteration of the old universe that restarts again and again?

honestly i like this way more than just infinite emptiness. it feels more like life constantly rebirthing itself which makes me extremely happy for no reason

There are four major theories about how the universe could eventually end, based on our understanding of cosmology and physics. These scenarios largely depend on the properties of dark energy, dark matter, and the universe’s expansion. Here’s an overview:

1. The Big Freeze (or Heat Death)

• What happens?
The universe continues to expand indefinitely. Over time, stars burn out, galaxies drift apart, and the temperature of the universe approaches absolute zero.
• Matter becomes scattered so thinly that no new stars can form.
• Eventually, even black holes evaporate through Hawking radiation.
• Outcome:
The universe becomes cold, dark, and lifeless—a state of maximum entropy.

2. The Big Crunch

• What happens?
If the expansion of the universe slows and reverses due to gravity, the universe could collapse in on itself.
• Galaxies, stars, and planets fall back together as the universe contracts.
• The universe ends in a massive implosion, potentially creating conditions for a new Big Bang.
• Outcome:
A collapse into a singularity or a possible cyclic universe, where this process repeats.

3. The Big Rip

• What happens?
If dark energy’s influence grows stronger over time, it could cause the expansion of the universe to accelerate to catastrophic levels.
• At some point, the expansion force becomes so powerful that it rips apart galaxies, stars, planets, and eventually atoms.
• The fabric of spacetime itself tears apart.
• Outcome:
The universe ends in violent disintegration.

4. Vacuum Decay

• What happens?
This theory is based on the idea that the universe exists in a “false vacuum” state.
• If a quantum fluctuation triggers the universe to transition to a “true vacuum” state, it could release an enormous amount of energy.
• A bubble of true vacuum would expand at nearly the speed of light, obliterating everything in its path.
• Outcome:
The universe is destroyed instantly as the bubble of true vacuum overtakes it.

Current Understanding

Physicists don’t know which scenario will happen, as it depends on the properties of dark energy, the universe’s total energy density, and other unknown factors. The Big Freeze is the most likely, according to current observations of accelerating expansion.

The big crunch sounds like some obscure Taco Bell item.
