Is the Universe headed for the Big Crunch?

The Big Crunch says the fate of the expanding universe will eventually succumb to gravity, slow down its expansion, and finally reverse.

It will collapse into a very big crunch.

The Big Bang says the universe expanded from a single point. But the Big Bang may have been caused by a previous Big Crunch.

But, a Big Crunch does not seem likely now because the expansion of the universe is accelerating - and we don't know why, Dark energy is an unknown force causing the rate of expansion to accelerate over time, rather than slow down.

Observations suggest that the expansion of the universe will continue forever.

Because of this, the universe will become too cold to sustain life. This future scenario is now known as the "Big Chill" or the "Big Freeze".

The way I imagine it.
The singularity broke down matter to the point that the particles are so small and weigh so little that could escape. They did this so fast that more than 50% of the weight of the singularity was outside of the event horizon. Pulling the universal singularity apart.
The sphere of particles kept expanding pulling all the matter that made the universe out. Basically ridding the perverbial wave away from the starting point.

I Think of it like fusion. Iron doesn’t produce energy because of the strength of the bond is too much to overcome, Once the universe expands enough, whatever is causing that expansion won’t have enough energy to overcome the force of gravity and it will collapse on itself. Even if the universe is infinite it’s pretty clear that the energy in the universe is not. I’d like to think once things do collapse that it’ll heat up the entire universe enough to cause fission with everything being so close to each other neutrons would be hitting everything and eventually everything will be revert back to helium and hydrogen and start the whole Big Bang process over again.
