Candidates are stepping up to be recognized in the Republican presidential race. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott threw his hat in the ring yesterday, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to join later this week. But so far, the GOP primary field is still dominated by former president Donald Trump. Rich Lowry, editor-in-chief of the conservative editorial magazine National Review, tells Walter Isaacson what it will take for a Republican candidate to beat Trump to the 2024 nomination.

Lowry misses that Disney actually pays more in property taxes because of their special tax district. They pay Reedy creek taxes in addition to regular county poperty taxes. But they get control over things like zoning. Is Desantis going to go after all the other special tax districts or just ones he thing would help his prez ambitions?

Who is on offense / defense? The basis of that whole question / idea is that 'my side is right!'. As such if 'my side is right and anyone who believes otherwise is wrong!' is the premise then you can call anyone and anything the 'offense'. 'Your honor, of course I punched him, he was gay and kissed his boyfriend at the restaurant. That kind of thing is wrong, and my family saw it so therefore it influenced my son, therefore he was on offense, so I had every right to beat him up'. That's the whole core of that argument. Not to mention the 'if we had known that companies would not always align with ours we wouldn't have given them that contract'....
