David Jolly: ‘Ron DeSantis has yet to demonstrate he can take a voter from Donald Trump’

NBC News National Political Correspondent Steve Kornacki, NBC News Correspondent Vaughn Hillyard, former Obama White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, and former Florida Representative David Jolly, a former member of the Republican party, join Peter Alexander to react to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis taking shots at former President Donald Trump on the campaign trail for the 2024 Republican nomination. “Ron DeSantis has yet to demonstrate he can take a voter from Donald Trump this cycle, which is why Chris Christie and Youngkin and others are getting in, not because of the weakness of Donald Trump, but because of the weakness of Ron DeSantis,” says Jolly. “The viability may not be there as a candidate, but he will have a very clarifying role to play in this primary.”

FL is on the top four list of most deaths in the country (+80, 000), along with NY and CA--but both those states were infected by Covid much earlier than FL. DeSantis took vaccines meant for impoverished communities for himself and donors, then became anti-vaccines bc that's what the base wanted.

Ron doesn't want to work with anyone who isn't doing or thinking exactly like Ron. They need to be thinking Ron first and foremost.
Watching Ron you realize he will never get enough of his dictatorship ways. So realize that he will come for you, your family and your way of life. It may not be right now but it will happen.

DeSantis also shut down the Florida government. Disgusting voter suppression laws were passed during legislative sessions that were closed to both citizens and the press. The Capitol didn't reopen until end of last year, long after nearly every state in the country had already lifted their covid restrictions. To this day, when you call certain state agencies, you get a voice mail that says hold times longer than normal due to covid. And you need an appointment, rather than walk-in, due to covid.
