Israel Launches Strikes in Syria as Tanks Cross Border Following Assad Regime’s Fall: Reports

As Syrian rebels claim to have captured the capital, Damascus, and reportedly forced President Bashar al-Assad to flee, reports indicate that Israeli tanks have crossed into Syria. Israel has allegedly launched strikes into Syria's buffer zone following an attack on a UN post in the Hadar area. The Israeli military states it is assisting the UN in repelling further attacks. Meanwhile, Syrian rebels have surrounded Damascus after capturing Homs, the fifth city to fall within a week. Syria's army command reportedly informed officers on December 8 that Assad's 24-year rule has ended. Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali has expressed readiness to cooperate with any leadership chosen by the Syrian people.

Misleading. Israel says it hit weapons caches at abandoned military bases. They also only entered the buffer zone between the two countries. They haven't targeted the rebels at all.

Your headline is misleading, Israel wasn’t striking the Syrian rebels but the Syrian military ammunition depots. Israel is credited with the rebels victory because the IDF has been striking the Syrian army in the last few weeks
