In this episode of #TheDailyDoug, I'm reacting to Disturbed's cover version of the classic Sting song If I Ever Lose My Faith In You. I very much enjoyed their treatment of this song...I think it fits the band's sensibilities and aesthetic well. Enjoy!

I love when the guitar kicks in, and seeing your face with childlike amazement and approval.

"... a lot of parallel chords--" then the DISTURBED HEAVY KICKS IN and the look on your face! Awesome!

Sting's original seems a pedestrian love song to me. In this one, the singer counts off all his disillusionments, all the things that have failed him, things he can't believe in anymore. And then, the music gets triumphant at the end, repeating "If I ever lose my faith in you"...as people look at themselves in the mirror. Disturbed transformed this lightweight pop song into an anthem of believing in yourself. Maybe you need to watch the video to get that...I'm not sure the arrangement alone makes it clear. But I find this version of the song ultimately uplifting despite all the disillusionment.

This song is soooo beautiful. The recording with Sting is great. I didn´t expect this version to be special, but they´ve really done a great job, respecting the beautiful harmony and powerful drive.

😂 I was just as surprised as Doug when the rock part kicked in as this was also the first time I've ever heard Disturbed version 😂

"I never saw a miracle of science that did not go from a blessing to a curse." I would humbly suggest that the problem lies not in the scientific discovery, but in its misuse by madmen in high places - the masters of war.

Been a fan of Disturbed since the 90s. David's singing prowess is nothing new. but always excites. I think the best thing about this cover to me is that the Sting version was more of a personal thing with his lover. This one is somehow a bit more. Like about losing faith in humanity.

@Doug Helvering, I love watching you discover one of my all time favorite bands! Keep it up! "THE LIGHT" should be next on your list sir! Disturbed as a whole are some of the best hard rock musicians! I play the piano and flute myself, I'm also an alto singer and thoroughly enjoy your reactions! Rock on! 🤘🥰

Disturbed is my favorite. I’ve been listening to them since they released their first album (The Sickness) back in 2000.

I'm amazed how some parts of the song seem as if it is actually Sting singing it, they sound so similar.

Disturbed have also done covers of "Already Gone", "Living After Midnight", "Land of Confusion" and "Shout" but their version is called "Shout 2000".

Talking about The Police brings to mind their great song Synchronicity II. From the great musicianship to the fascinating concept found in the lyrics, this would be a great reaction video!
