I never read it as the mental health issue was a part of the KKG but as part of trying to suppress it and keep it hidden away. I mean if Frozen was out before that filler episode aired people would be cutting it with Let it Go over it. The conceal don't feel part is spot on.

I think if one of them was trained from a very early age to control their KKG and not hide and suppress it they wouldn't develop the second persona.

So powerful the animators had to nerf yakumo by making her rely on a painting genjutsu. Just to give Naruto and company time to beat her. If she used normal or even a sound based genjutsu she would have killed everyone no diff. Possibly even shino, if his bugs don't break him out somehow.
