In which John hard launches Potato, our family's new lagotto romagnolo puppy dog. We love him so much. We wish he would sleep a little more at night.

Look, it's been one of the worst and most horrifying weeks of my existence, but even I have to admit that seeing Potato do the format actually helps. He's so right, hope IS still the correct response to the miracle of dog consciousness. Thanks for that, Potato.

What a breath of fresh air to see a YouTuber actually doing research and getting a well-bred dog from a reputable breeder (and one that is ACTUALLY guaranteed to be single-coated and appropriate for most allergy sufferers.) Lagottos are fantastic family pets and are always one of my first suggestions for anyone who finds that coat type appealing but doesn't want a Poodle. For what it's worth, though, that's not a language barrier problem. It's extremely common for dog people to refer to little wee puppies as potatoes.

I audibly went “aww” when he jumped onto the beanbag. So freaking cute. My dog has a beanbag, it’s so destroyed now (she’s nearly 9), but whenever we offer her anything else she just wants to snuggle on the beanbag, with all the socks she’s “buried” there 😂

John, the number of times you've said things I needed to hear is immense, but today you've shown me what I needed to see. About a week ago my partner and I had to say goodbye to our wonderful potato, who was not named potato but was in her own way very much a potato, and today I picked up her ashes and then cried in my car for a long time. Potato looks like such a wonderful puppy, I'm so happy for you and your family to have him and for him to have you, and seeing him makes me look forward to when we're ready for a new potato in our lives. Not yet, though, we're a complete disaster right now.

Potato is perfect. The allergy thing is clutch, My wife and I have a westie, and his hair not bothering our friend's allergies is an amazing perk. I'm glad you were able to find another breed that fit your needs!

I will also note that this video has a little bit of the old school youthful enthusiasm and vigor, And it's great to hear that in your voice.
