Couple Arrested for Child Neglect After Sleeping on the Beach: Cops

A couple from Georgia who were sleeping on the beach is woken up by the Sheriff’s office. Volusia County Deputies say someone called to report that they “appear to have had too much to drink and are possibly passed out.” Deputies say their kids were found swimming in a pool nearby. While they were being arrested, the children’s biological mother, wanted to make sure they would be ok. Her fiance then tried to run away. Inside Edition Digital has more.

I’ve grown up at the beach most of my life. Ever since I had my son we lived within walking distance and spent many many days at the beach. A small one, nothing like this, with lifeguards and life jackets kids could borrow to wear. Even knowing my son is a good swimmer, in a life jacket, is right in front of me, and multiple lifeguards were watching….I still never took my eyes off of him. I would read and hold my book low so he was still always in my vision. I just can’t even imagine being SO relaxed and carefree I’d fall asleep! All it takes is 1 second for those kids to go under when no one sees and they’re gone. This is unbelievable and I’m glad they were reported and the police took it seriously.

That father is no real man, but a coward. He’d sooner abandon his wife and kids just to save himself. And dumb to boot, thinking he could get away in a wide open beach barefoot.

Dude? I’d understand trying to run if it was just the open alcohol containers on the beach, but you literally LOST your kids along with all of that. Dad of the year right there
